Groningen to grow most next year
Monday 07 December 2009
All the Dutch provinces will benefit from the return to economic growth slated for next year, but the northern province of Groningen will grow the most, according to ING economists quoted by news agency ANP on Monday.
Some 30% of Groningen's economy is based on natural gas extraction, and the province will grow by 3% next year, the economists said. Groningen was hardest hit by the downturn - the economy is set to contract by 5.7% this year.
Flevoland and Utrecht have been least hard hit by the recession, the report says.
