Unilever turnover down, but sales are up
Thursday 05 November 2009
Unilever sold more consumer products than expected in the third quarter of this year, bolstered by price cuts, the company said in a statement.
While turnover was down 2% at €10bn year on year, underlying sales growth was up 3.4% and volumes increased 3.6%.
'We have seen further good progress across all regions and the majority of countries and categories,' CEO Paul Polman said. 'Market conditions remain challenging and in this environment we will continue to increase investment behind our brands and build long-term capabilities in research and development.'
