SS trial halted because of hearing problems

The trial of suspected Dutch war criminal Heinrich Boere in Aachen, Germany has been halted because of his hearing problems, news agency ANP reports on Tuesday.

Boere, on trial for killing three Dutch men in retaliation for resistance attacks on the German occupiers during World War II, must first be fitted with a hearing aid before the trial will resume, ANP said.
Boere, 88, was sentenced to death in absentia in 1949 but escaped and went into hiding in Maastricht for several years. He has lived in Germany since 1954.
