Mushroom grower faces jail in organic fraud
Friday 13 November 2009
A mushroom grower from Gelderland is facing a year in jail for selling ordinary mushrooms as organic products in 2005 and 2006, the Telegraaf reports.
The public prosecution department suspects the former market leader of selling 400,000 kilos of non-organic mushrooms with an organic label.
He has admitted to keeping chaotic accounts but denies deliberately attempting to defraud the public. The company has since been declared bankrupt.
