Kroes confirmed as telecoms commissioner

The Netherlands' representative on the European commission Neelie Kroes is to move to the digital agenda and telecoms portfolio, commission president José-Manuel Barroso confirmed on Friday.
Kroes, who is the current competition chief, will also become one of six vice-presidents of the commission.
The appointments till have to be confirmed by the European parliament.
