Heineken kidnappers benefit from book

The men responsible for kidnapping beer magnate Freddy Heineken in 1983 have earned hundreds of thousands of euros in royalties from a book based on their crime, the Telegraaf reports on Friday.
The book De ontvoering van Alfred Heineken (the kidnapping of Alfred Heineken) by crime reporter Peter R de Vries has sold almost 300,000 copies since it was published in 1987.
The book is based on the story of one of the kidnappers, Cor van Hout, who signed a contract giving him 75% of the royalties and proceeds from interviews and any film or tv rights.
Van Hout was shot dead in 2003. De Vries says Van Hout's claim on the royalties then transferred to his wife, Sonja Holleeder, sister of another Heineken kidnapper Willem Holleeder.

This is perverse. Maybe from now on a judge could include a paragraph in the sentence that any proceeds from the criminal's story of the crime should go to charity?
