Unemployment rate still 5%

The Dutch official unemployment rate was stable at 5% between July and September, unchanged from the June to August period but up from 3.7% a year ago, the national statistics office CBS said on Tuesday.


The jobless total has risen by 110,000 to 394,000 over the past year, the CBS said.
The number of people officially listed as looking for work rose 0.2 percentage point between August and September to 498,000. This figure also includes people looking for a job of fewer than 12 hours a week.
Some 278,000 people are now claiming unemployment benefits (ww), up 2.8% on August.
