Transport sector pollution rises 80%
Wednesday 28 October 2009
The transport sector is producing almost 80% more greenhouse gases now than in 1990, according to calculations by the national statistics office CBS.
The increase is due to the growth in the international transport sector and private travel, the CBS said.
In particular, greenhouse gas emissions by the airline industry have more than doubled.
Industry accounts for 82% of all greenhouse gas emissions in the Netherlands.

This country stinks. The air quality is terrible! All the trucks should go on rail, all the diesel freifht treins should go via the Betuwe line and all boats should have filters.
