Solo sailor teen back in court

Laura Dekker, the teenage girl who wants to become the youngest person to sail solo round the world, will argue her case before judges on Monday afternoon.

Laura, who has just turned 14, was put under temporary court supervision at the end of August to give the court more time to assess her case.
Then, the judges said it was not yet clear what the affect of the two-year voyage – which will include long periods without direct human contact – would be on Dekker. Since then different experts, including a child psychologist and sailing expert, have become involved.
Nos tv reports that Laura and her team will focus on showing the court that her trip will be monitored carefully and all possible safety steps are being taken. For example, her yacht Guppy will be shadowed by a second boat on difficult stretches and she will get regular visits from family and others during the trip, Nos says.
The court is expected to give its ruling on Friday.
