Second human trafficker escapesFriday 30 October 2009 A second man serving a four-year prison sentence for human trafficking has escaped after being given a weekend's leave, justice minister Ernst Hirsch Ballin told MPs on Thursday evening. The minister says it appears the authorities forgot to check with the public prosecution department to see if the request was reasonable. The department would have recommended refusing it, the minister said. The minister did not give any more details about the case. In September, human trafficker Saban Baran left the country after was given a week's leave to bond with his new baby despite being a known flight risk. He was serving a 7.5-year sentence and last week was given a further eight years in jail in absentia. That escape prompted the minister to tighten up the regulations for compassionate leave. © DutchNews.nl
Sean: You overlook the more likely explanation... incompetence! An all to common affliction here in the Netherlands. By Buzzer | October 30, 2009 4:31 PM It's OK, he was given a further 8 years in absentia, so that should really teach him a lesson! Seems Holland is a nice place for criminals to do business. By Steve | October 30, 2009 4:56 PM Weekend pass from a jail sentence, crroks that fail to show up for jail because the justice department trusts them to do so, community service for thieves, attempted murderers and Paedophiles that have more rights than victims, Time for serious governmental change here. By bet | October 30, 2009 7:43 PM When will this stupid country learn that jail means jail and being locked-up for 7.5 years means that you STAY behind bars, not let out for a weekend vacation or any other such rubbish. Do criminals give a break to their victims? NO!!! So why should society have to tolerate this stupid "lets treat prisoners with compassion" rubbish. Throw criminals into prison and keep them there until their sentence is over! By Caycu | October 30, 2009 8:04 PM Either this is cooked up or dutch police force is the most stupid on earth. By Shailesh | October 30, 2009 8:21 PM Heard of 'Open Prision's' but this is NOT a joke. What is the Justice Minister going to do now - might as well just open all the Prison Doors & let everyone go. How can the public have faith in any 'Justice System' when this sort of serious criminal is sentenced & then it's considered he should have compassionate leave? As Sean say's it's clearly obvisious corruption. Maybe when they are given the leave - they are the ones that should be wearing the REFLECTING JACKETS !! By Wiemer | October 31, 2009 7:38 AM All, please try to be understanding with our Dutch gouvernement...they are just too busy trying to recover some tax money for the royal familly first: By johnny | November 2, 2009 6:13 PM

Saban Baran and this guy have been let go. This is obviously money-motivated corruption in the government.
