More people willing to work to 65

As the government prepares to increase the state pension age from 65 to 67, a new labour market survey by the TNO research institute shows more people are willing to work to the age of 65.

In 2005, just 21% of people said they were willing to work to the age of 65, but this had risen to 36% by last year, researcher Jan Fekke Ybema told news agency ANP.
But just one in eight said they were willing to work past the official retirement age, the research showed.
According to figures from the national statistics office CBS earlier this month, only 18% of women and 38% of men who are aged 60 to 65 still have a job. Many have taken advantage of early retirement schemes, introduced in the 1980s to combat high youth unemployment.
