MPs, ministers and local authority executives will have to apply for jobs if they lose their political function, MPs agreed on Thursday.

Politicians’ special unemployment benefit, known as wachtgeld (waiting money) will also be cut from a maximum six to four years.
There has been growing unease at the generous jobless deals given to former politicians at a time when other workers’ benefits are being cut.
