The mayor of Eindhoven was wrong to ban a convicted paedophile from returning to the city, judges in Den Bosch said on Tuesday.

The 61-year-old man has just completed a 27 month jail term for abusing four boys in Eindhoven – his third sentence for child abuse. He is also appealing against a five year probation order.
Mayor Rob van Gijzel said he took the decision to ban the man from the city to prevent social unrest and revenge attacks during the appeal process.
The court in Den Bosch said the mayor’s worries that the man may offend again are understandable, but that this is not enough to ban him from the city, ANP said. During the appeal he is not required to report to social workers.
