Amsterdam hospital offers egg freezing

Amsterdam University’s AMC teaching hospital is to press ahead with plans to offer egg-freezing services to single women aged over 35, the Telegraaf reports on Monday.

The paper says the aim of the service is to allow women without a partner to become a mother up to the age of 50.
The country’s other seven academic hospitals have medical and ethical objections to the plan, the paper says. They say eggs should only be harvested if there are exceptional medical reasons to do so, such as cancer.
