Albert Heijn is too big already. As a foreigner who makes frequent trips to stay in Amsterdam i am dismayed by the lack of free choice. Even the British and the Australians have more choice than the poor old Amsterdammer! Dutch competition law is a JOKE! They should restrict market share to %25 NOT %40. Even TESCO only controls %30 of the UK Market. AHold has way more than %30 of the Dutch market and this lack of real competition means higher prices and poorer service compared to other countries. Somebody in The Hague needs to wake up!

SERVICE is a word not in Albert Heijn dictionary....the stores in Amsterdam are a Joke...It boggles my mind why the Amsterdam City Counsel does not do something about no competition....and by the way, one other thing that drives me crazy... Amsterdam is always talking about "cleaning" up the city. My question is does anyone of them ever shop at AH at Dam Square. The dirt and crap on those stares leading up to the AH door is a DISGRACE. MAKE them clean around that store! They make a fortune at that awful place so I think could afford to sweep outside throughout the day and maybe steam clean the filth off once in a while. Am I the only one with eyes.
