Spending on gardens is recession-proof
Tuesday 22 September 2009
Dutch households spent more than €2bn on their gardens in the first six months of this year, a figure almost unchanged from a year ago, according to the garden sector association.
Most money went on garden maintenance, followed by new furniture and tools. Spending was down on pots, bulbs and garden lighting. The association said the good weather was largely responsible for the good results.
