New pension age may be 66Thursday 24 September 2009 The government is considering raising the state pension age from 65 to 66 in one go, if unions and employers fail to come up with an alternative plan to an increase, the Telegraaf reports on Thursday. Quoting sources in the Hague, the paper says the plan to phase in an increase from 65 to 67 over several years could be replaced by a single jump to 66. Pension experts have warned the phased increase from 2016, which has been suggested, will be complicated to implement. The government want to raise the state pension age to help cut the budget deficit which has increased because of the recession. But the FNV union is strongly opposed to the increase. Before the summer break, ministers agreed to give unions and employers until October 1 to find an alternative source for the cash savings. The Telegraaf says hopes of a joint union and employer standpoint appear to be fading. © DutchNews.nl
Why not 80?? You finish work and you can die happily afterwards. By kos | September 24, 2009 1:31 PM If ultimately the State Pension age is raised to 66 instead of 65, why not atleast exemption is given to those who are already remaining unemployed/early retired/handicapped and housewives to have the pension benefit when they reach 65 years itself rather than waiting sorrowfully for another one year? Here's an idea: actually collect the taxes from your hereditary elite, or at least stop handing them gilded allowances the average taxpayer could only dream of (or play the sucker's postcode lottery in search of).
When you're working that 48th year for peanuts, seeing those royals get their inflation-adjusted (how is it that inflation rates always depend on whose money is being adjusted?) windfalls - that Orange spirit can't be too high, eh?
