Netherlands fifth in IT rankings
Thursday 17 September 2009
The Netherlands is one of the best countries in the world as a location for IT companies, according to new research from the Economist Intelligence Unit quoted by the Telegraaf.
The paper says the Netherlands is fifth in the latest rankings, behind the US, Finland, Sweden and Canada.
Dutch strong points are the IT infrastructure and opportunities offered for research and development, the paper quotes EIU researcher Denis McCauley as saying. 'The Netherlands may not be an IT powerhouse, but the circumstances are there to create one,' he said.
Last year, the Netherlands was 10th in the survey. The improved position is due to better estimates about the number of patents taken out by IT companies based here, the paper says.
