Minister criticises Israel on settlements

Israel’s decision to continue building homes on Palestinian territory is ‘very, very sad’, foreign minister Maxime Verhagen was quoted as saying at the weekend.

The decision was particularly ‘bad’ because of the pending agreement to freeze building in the occupied territories, supported by the US government, Verhagen was reported as saying by the NRC.
This weekend, Israel officially approved the construction of nearly 400 new homes in the occupied West Bank.
The Palestinian authority has ruled out resumption of peace talks until Israel agrees to a complete freeze to the settlements.
