The waste processing arm of power company Essent is to bring back tonnes of rubbish which it exported to Poland for disposal, news agency ANP reports on Tuesday.

Essent Milieu expects to be able to complete the procedure in a couple of months, once all the permits have been finalised, ANP said.
Almost 4,000 tonnes of waste was exported to Poland between December 2007 and December 2008. However, it later transpired the waste was not as described on the import documents and the Polish authorities urged Essent to bring it back.
Earlier, the Financieele Dagblad reported the shipments should have been a combination of paper and plastic to be used as fuel. One source told the paper simply that it was very smelly.
The cost of exporting and then re-importing the waste is €500,000, ANP said.
