Budget: Wilders calls for new elections

Tuesday 15 September 2009

The cabinet has totally lost its way and should be dismissed, said Geert Wilders, the controversial leader of the anti-immigration PVV, in an initial reaction to next year’s budget plans announced on Tuesday.

‘How dare the cabinet take measures against the ordinary citizen while it is spending billions on banks and left-wing hobbies. Pots of money are being thrown away on more asylum-seekers and immigrants, development aid and Vogelaarwijken [run-down districts designated for urban renewal]. That is unrealistic and anti-social,’ he is quoted as saying.

Wilders, whose party has nine of the 150 seats in parliament, is also against the government’s plans to increase the pension age from 65 to 67.

The PVV has drawn up an alternative budget for 2010. This includes lowering income taxes, spending more on care for the elderly and the police. These measures would be paid for by cutting spending on ‘left-wing hobbies and subsidies’, said Wilders.

Wilders should shut up. He is acting as a useless barking dog (barks at every thing moves). He is not a real politician; he makes noise (for nothing) when ever there is an opportunity. Either he should be sent to political training course or he should be kecked out of public office.

Wilders is a buffoon but he's right- the cabinet is directly attacking the 'ordinary citizen' with its inflationary policies, increased taxes, and lowered social care. The dutch will have to end up paying more for basics such as food and energy, while at the same time have their purchasing power reduced through higher taxation, and the quality of their life changed with the ending of various social programs. The banks got bailed out why not the regular taxpayers? Just have a tax revolt and get it over with.

Wilder always speak unrealistic things, I don't know why people gave him votes. Asylum-seekers and immigrants are cause of financial crises, how cheap the Wilder analysis is?
We are living in Global village, we cannot stop our borders. I don’t know why this man always tries to raise hatred against asylum-seekers and immigrants and also Muslims.

What about cutting down the cost of your security, charlatan?

Apart from Wilders' bigotry (that will be confirmed and punished by the courts in January), he and his PVV are a single-agenda party that has never involved itself nor shown interested in any issues other than immigration. Thus for him to talk about anything relating to economy, budget or management of our country is simply insulting.

I detest Wilders personally, but I have to admit he is right this time.

If the budget must be balanced what is better? Lower spending on education or lower spending on development aid? That answer is clear - lower development aid.

What else should be cut? Asylum seekers expenses or pensions? That answer is clear - asylum seekers expenses.

What else should be cut? Royal fmaily expenses or police protection? That answer is clear - royal family.

When the budget is as desperate as it is, we need to make hard choices and trim down to the basics (police, education, pensions, infrastructure), and cut the things we like to pay for but cannot afford now (development aid, cultural subsidies, royal family, etc.) It is not popular and we wish we could do more, but we can't.

Yesterday, I saw that someone questioned if he need a psychiatrist, or if there are any in Holland to treat him. Having spoken with some psychiatrist, psychologist, etc., I can say that they do not agree with his policies, think his party should be illegal under EU & NL law, and think he's mad - well, they are psychiatrist!

The UN should step in and take over, clean out the nasty xenophobes out of power. All of them are just as guilty for being too cowardly to speak up. Nato needs to kick the Netherlands out and invade this country to clean it up and the rest of Europe that is spreading this type of hate.

Hate him or not he is an elected official and entitled to his say until the public say otherwise. Every time I read the comments here I see him being ridiculed (for all it matters I strongly disagree with the man on almost everything) but a proportion of the populace has chosen him to represent them. If you wish this to change then beg for a dictatorship and see what happens. Ingrates.
