State lottery boss gets extra security

The head of the state lottery Staatsloterij and its offices in the Hague have been given extra security following a series of threats, the Telegraaf reports on Wednesday.

A spokeswoman would not say what sort of threats had been made but that appropriate measures had been taken.
The spokeswoman said the threats began before last Thursday, when lottery director Yvonne van Oort drew headlines because of her €420,000 salary.
Last Monday, the advertising code commission said advertisements for a record jackpot of €27.5m were misleading.
The advertising watchdog received over 60 complaints after the draw fell on a ‘one-fifth’ lottery ticket (the basic ticket costs €15 but it is also possible to buy a ticket for €3). This means that only one-fifth of the prize money was released.
