Prosecco sales soar in Holland
Sales of the Italian sparkling wine prosecco soared 80% in the first six months of this year to a total €11.6m, according to research by Nielsen and quoted by news agency ANP.
The Dutch drank 2.5 million bottles of prosecco in the first six months of the year, compared with 1.4 million bottles in the 2008 first half.
Officially prosecco is made from the prosecco grape and comes from the Veneto region, ANP said.
