Poles keen to integrate, survey concludes

Although two-thirds of the Poles who work in the Netherlands plan to return to their own country at some point, they are keen to integrate into Dutch society, reports the AD newspaper on Thursday.

Almost half (44%) of Poles have daily contact with their neighbours and although language can be a problem, most of them can communicate adequately in Dutch or English, says the paper quoting a survey by TNS Nipo.
The researchers questioned 400 Poles who came to the Netherlands in or around the year 2000. Most of these are well educated. Three in 10 Poles said they have jobs for which they are over-qualified.
Poles have been allowed to work in the Netherlands without legal restrictions since May 2007.
