Mortgage tax relief back for some second homes

People who own two homes because they have moved and the recession has left them unable to sell their first one are to be given an extra tax break, news agency ANP reports on Monday.

From January, home owners stuck with a second house will be able to claim mortgage tax relief for the double mortgage after renting it out for a time, junior finance minister Jan Kees de Jager told MPs.
The tax break will run for a maximum two years, De Jager said.
The minister said he hoped the measure would stimulate people who cannot sell their first home to rent it out on a temporary basis.
