Longer school day experiment launched

The school day for some primary school pupils is being increased by five hours a week as an experiment to help children lagging behind in arithmetic and language skills, the Volkskrant reports on Monday.

The government has set aside €42m for the three-year project. Schools in 23 different parts of the country have applied to take part in the scheme.
