Flight to Sydney takes travellers to Canada

A trip from Amsterdam to Sydney landed 71-year-old Jan Rutten and his 15-year-old grandson not in Australia as expected, but in the town of Sydney in Nova Scotia, Canada, reports the AD newspaper on Tuesday.

Although the journey, booked via a Dutch travel agency, included a transfer at Halifax on the cold east coast of Canada, the pair had no idea they were on their way to a destination some 27,000kms from where they thought they were going, according to the paper.
The confusion was caused by a ‘mistake with their tickets’ the paper says. After two nights in Canada, Rutten and his grandson are now believed to be on their way to Sydney, Australia, the paper says.
