Cabinet to cut child benefit exports

Ministers are to take steps to stop paying child benefit for children who do not live in the Netherlands although their families work here, sources have told the Telegraaf.

The paper says the level of benefit is to be reduced in line with the cost of living in the country where the child goes to school.
At the moment parents get a quarterly payout of €236.77 for a child aged between six and 11.
MPs have long called for restrictions to the amount of child benefit which can be send abroad after the social insurance bank reported there was widescale fraud.
