Women-only integration courses scrappedThursday 02 July 2009 Local authorities will not be allowed to offer single sex integration courses to immigrants from January 1 next year, integration minister Eberhard van der Laan said on Wednesday. Two weeks ago, Van der Laan said he supported separate classes for men and women because otherwise orthodox women would not take the lessons. Van de Laan said he had changed his mind because the issue has become increasingly sensitive in parliament and he has come to realise separate classes help create sexual apartheid. He does not want to undermine support for the principle of integration courses, he was quoted as saying in the Volkskrant. Some 15% of current integration courses are single sex. © DutchNews.nl
Goed !! sexism and separatism of any form should not be encourage. Prima!! I really welcome this idea and i applause this super idea but there are lots of apartheid systems that need urgent condemnation and stoppage.Examples : religious apartheid, race apartheid, wealth apartheid that exit in dutch schools. I thought dutch education system should be the institutions that can be used to address this social sickness but instead is this system that is been used to nurse this seeds of hatred and separatism. Black schools, poor schools, white schools,Moroccan schools etc. Are we now in apartheid South Africa. May be we will need Dutch Mandela to abolish this educational apartheid system. By kwabena | July 2, 2009 8:42 AM Finally some minister is waking up??? I´m afraid there´s still so much to do in Europe, and so much to change, specially in Holland. The integation doens´t work, not at all, you just have to walk around Paris, Berlin Rotterdam, etc, Goverments must do something, otherwise the whole Europe will vote for men as Geert Wilders By Joel | July 2, 2009 11:01 AM I'm with Van der Laan on this one. How many women may not want to (or may not not be allowed to) join mixed sex classes? Some cultures disapprove of different sexes mingling, the outcome will mean many women will miss out. By Geuzen76 | July 2, 2009 11:33 PM First the government should address the real problem: The societies that preach and allow the dominance and control of some men over women. If that can be resolved then some women would feel comfortable in mixed sex classes or courses. By Guezen76 | July 2, 2009 11:40 PM

Finally this minister got back to his senses after his aberrant declaration a fortnight ago!
It is time to push and pull these ladies out of their submissing houses into the real world of gender equality!
