Sixty arrests at China demo in The Hague

Police in the Hague arrested at least 60 people at a demonstration outside the Chinese embassy, Nos tv reports on Monday.

A number of the demonstrators were arrested for throwing stones at the embassy. Others attempted to climb over the fence surrounding the building, Nos said.

Police said 250 people took part in the demonstration, which was in support of people living in the Xinjiang region of China.

Violence in the western has left at least 140 people dead and more than 800 people injured, the BBC reported on Monday.

Several hundred people were arrested after a protest, in the city of Urumqi on Sunday, turned violent.
