More households switch energy supplierTuesday 21 July 2009 Some 70,000 households a month are currently switching energy supplier, a spokesman for the sector's organisation EnergieNed says in Tuesday's Nederlands Dagblad. Not only budget suppliers such as EnergieDirect, but green energy firms and traditional firms such as Nuon and RWE are also managing to attract new customers, the paper says. Most consumers opt for a fixed price contract running over several years. 'People will make the change if they can save upwards of €100 a year,' Hans de Kok of price comparison website PrizeWize told the paper. However, the consumers association Consumentenbond has opened a hotline for people to report aggressive or misleading sales tactics, following a string of complaints. © DutchNews.nl Get the DutchNews.nl newsletter in your mailbox: Click here to subscribe
Michael I hear you: Tele2 has tried, and failed, 3 times in 3 months to install their "internet+phone+TV packetje" in my flat in Haarlem, but they charged from the day I basically made the request! Calling them to force them to compensate took painful hours on the phone, obviously at my expense. By carlo | July 21, 2009 12:52 PM I got 19 bills in 3 months from NUON. hehehehehe By jerry | July 22, 2009 10:36 AM Place your comments: |

Long live the power of the consumer! Now, could some attention be paid to the telecoms companies? Trying to cancel an 'abonnement' is like trying to extract teeth from a hungry white shark. I recently tried (and failed) to cancel mine. To add insult to injury all communications had to be by phone - at my expense. May I suggest that before entering into any form of contract with these aggressive, rapacious people, you get it in writing 'how easy it is to cancel the contract or change the terms'.
