Kenny van Hummel out of Tour de France

Dutchman Kenny van Hummel is out of the Tour de France cycle race after falling during a descent and cutting open his left knee.

Van Hummel was the tour’s lanterne rouge – or last placed rider. The Skil-Shimano team rider, who was 3:35:54 behind the leaders, had spent much of the tour cycling alone.
According to Cycling News, ‘a bit of romanticism left the Tour de France’ with Van Hummel’s departure. ‘Van Hummel though will go down as one of the most iconic and likeable riders in this year’s race,’ the website said.
