Producers remain pessimistic in July
Tuesday 28 July 2009
Industrial producers remain sombre about their economic situation according to figures published by the national statistics office CBS on Tuesday.
Confidence was minus 14.8 in July compared to minus 15 in the preceding month, said the CBS. The deepest point was reached in February this year.
The majority of producers are pessimistic about an improvement and do not expect orders to rise, the CBS said.
The so-called order index (order portfolio in terms of working months) fell to 98.4 in July compared to 101.4 in June.
Some 40% of industrial firms said production has stagnated as a result of insufficient demand, said the CBS.
