Cost of motoring up 40% over 10 years

The cost of driving a car has gone up 40% over the past 10 years while prices in general increased 26%, according to research by ING economists published on Monday.


On an annual basis, the cost of motoring has risen 3.3%, while inflation averaged 2.3%, the economists said.
Car insurance is 14% more expensive while road tax has gone up 18%. Repairs and petrol costs 50% more. But top of the list is the cost of parking which has risen 80%, news agency ANP quoted the ING research as saying.
