Chaos on Rotterdam ring road

Several accidents involving heavy lorries have brought chaos to the roads around Rotterdam, motoring organisation ANWB warned on Monday morning.

'All the slip roads are full,' a spokeswoman told the Telegraaf. By 10.30 am, the total jams had stretched to 25km.

The first accident involving three lorries happened on the A20 between junction Terbregseplein and the turn off to Rotterdam Centrum.

A second incident involving several cars led to the partial closure of the A15 close to the Botlek tunnel for a time. That road has since reopened.

The ANWB said it hoped the roads would be clear by lunch time.
