VVD leader’s popularity declines

The right-wing Liberal party VVD has lost two seats in the latest Maurice de Hond opinion poll and would take just 12 if there was a general election tomorrow.

The rating given by supporters to party leader Mark Rutte has also fallen to 4.1, following his comments last week in which he said denying the holocaust should not be a crime.
The VVD currently has 21 seats in the current parliament.
The Socialist Party and Liberal Democrats (D66), both added one seat, taking them to 14 and 17 seats respectively. Geert Wilders’ anti-Islam party PVV remains the largest party in De Hond’s poll on 32 seats, with the Christian Democrats down one on 30.
