TNT buys stake in German post firm

TNT has bought a stake in a number of regional German post groups from publishing company George van Holtzbrinck, the postal company said in a statement on Tuesday.

Financial details were not disclosed. The move extends TNT's reach to some 40% of German households. TNT has been active in Germany for 10 years.

'Although there is still no level playing field on the German postal market, this distribution partnership is important to maintain and strengthen the position as leading alternative provider of mail services in Germany,' TNT board member Harry Koorstra said.
