Rotterdam cannabis cafes closed down
Monday 01 June 2009
A total of 16 out of Rotterdam's 61 licenced cafes where small amounts of cannabis can be bought have been closed down because they were too close to schools, Nos tv reports.
Under new rules, so-called coffee shops must be further than 250 metres from a school, in order to reduce drugs use by youngsters.
A number of coffee shops in Amsterdam also face closure by 2011 because of the school ruling.
