Police investigate care home murder

Police in Meppel are investigating the murder of an 88-year-old woman who was found tied up and semi-clothed in her room in a nursing home.

Jannie de Kruys was found dead a week ago but details of her death have only just been released, the Telegraaf reports on Wednesday.
Police are still not sure if the elderly woman had been sexually assaulted, the paper said.
Other residents in the home are in shock, care worker Rinze van der Meij told the paper.
Police are still refusing to say how the woman died and if they suspect robbery as a possible motive.
Meppel, a small town in the province of Drenthe, has been plagued for months by burglars who target care homes. Two days before the murder, a man suspected of dozens of burglaries was arrested. He was in custody at the time of the murder, the paper says.
