No legal way to ban insurer hospital mergerWednesday 03 June 2009 There is no legal barrier to hospitals merging with insurance companies, a health ministry commission has told health minister AbKlink. The committee says that the quality, availability and affordability of healthcare is not threatened by such mergers, news agency ANP reports. MPs fear that mergers would lead to a reduction in choice because insurance companies would be able to force their policyholders to use particular doctors and hospitals. But this will not be the case, committee says. In addition, the competition authority and the health authority will be able to check if choice and quality are threatened. Klink is due to publish the cabinet's position on such mergers by the end of this month. © DutchNews.nl

Welcome to the twilight zone of HMOs. Where you spend more time on the phone getting services cleared - worrying about getting to an approved hospital when you break your leg - and generally horrid medical care due to the total profit-centered focus of the entire system.
Every day the Netherlands lurches another step closer to the disaster that is the United States.
CNN propaganda, MTV masochism and McDonalds pseudofood are but the vanguard of this sad cultural annihilation.
