Netherlands buys 34 million flu vaccines

Friday 19 June 2009

The government is to buy 34 million doses of vaccine against swine flu - once it has been developed, Trouw reports on Friday.

The aim of the vaccine is to prevent between 4,000 and 10,000 deaths next winter, the paper says.

The health ministry order is enough to provide two doses for every man, woman and child in the country. Two doses are thought necessary because the flu virus is a new one, the paper says.

Health minister Ab Klink is expected to sign contracts with drugs manufacturers this week. The vaccine must have been developed by the end of this year, the paper says.

But swine flu is expected to really take off in the Netherlands from September. The national health council recommended in May the entire population be vaccinated.

The Netherlands already has a stockpile of 4.5 million doses of anti-viral medicine.

So here we go again!... Let's feed the population in panic more new experimental drugs... of course under the motto: "Better safe than sorry".... I love this democracy!

Come to Canada Frank.

In my area pharmacists had no N95 masks in stock when H1N1 arrived and told customers they had been backordered for months. When I asked about the availability of Tamiflu, the pharmacist laughed!

Canadians are free to fend off pandemics on their own.

I'm old enough to remember the swine flu panic during the President Ford administration. More people died from the vaccination than the swine flu.

This is just another government excuse to spend more tax money and distract people from other government-induced fiascos.

Yep! You know I think I'd prefer to get the swine flu over the regular kind. Statistically speaking, I stand a better chance of survival with the swine flu. Let's just calm the heck down already! IT'S THE FLU! People sometimes die from the flu! THAT IS NOTHING NEW! We will definitely NOT be participating in any swine flu vaccines. I'm not injecting questionable shit into my children that's for damn sure!

Next thing you know, NL will force the Chicken Pox vaccine on people like in America!

I refused the normal flu vaccine last year, and my doctor's office thought I must be crazy. That idea is the vast thought process in Holland toward the pharma/insurance controlled "health" industry. Western "health" is actually "disease care" and not health care. Hopefully (and prayerfully), vaccines won't become manditory, because then we WILL die by the millions.

What is the point of buying 34 million doses? That is twice the size of the population. Does the government hope to profit from selling to others that may need it?
