Apeldoorn attack was 'deliberate'Wednesday 10 June 2009 The man who drove his car through the crowd watching the royal family's motorcade on Queen's Day killing seven people acted deliberately, the policewoman who spoke to him after the incident says in police magazine Blauw. Sharon Koenders and a colleague got in the car with Karst Tates after his car smashed into some railings close to the bus carrying the queen and other members of the royal family. 'He did not look good but he was conscious. I could hear him rasping blood while he answered,' the Telegraaf quoted her as saying. 'At a certain moment we asked him if it was a deliberate attack and he confirmed that. My colleague and I looked at each other to see if we had each heard him. It was a real attack.' However, Tates did not actually mention the royal family, the paper says. The attack is widely assumed to have been directed at queen Beatrix. The official investigation into events in Apeldoorn on April 30 have not yet been completed. Tates died of his injuries the next day. © DutchNews.nl Get the DutchNews.nl newsletter in your mailbox: Click here to subscribe
@TAD: Did you see the windshield? Hitting a person at speed collapsing the windshield into the driver and the impact of that body into his body. Has nothing to do with hitting the monument, he hit the monument because he was just about knocked out of it from the impacts of hitting Humans... By DR | June 10, 2009 2:34 PM oh yea its surely a conspiracy theory TAD, lol, you would be surprised how much damage is done at even the slowest of speeds, infact i suggest you drive at 10 kph into a brick wall and lets see how you fare eh, are you up for our little experiment By adhd | June 10, 2009 4:49 PM Well for once the internet posters rather tastefully avoided putting up video footage of that part so No I didn't see people hitting him through the Windscreen - hence my question By TAD | June 10, 2009 5:03 PM Oh they figured out it wasn't an accident then?! Smart. By sean | June 11, 2009 7:32 AM drive at 10 kph into a brick wall and lets see how you fare eh, are you up for our little experiment By adhd | June 10, 2009 4:49 PM Yeh I am m8 - as long as your prepared to stand behind the wall - Ill even go 30 mph thats mph not kph By TAD | June 11, 2009 10:29 AM Place your comments: |

I would be very interested to know how and exactly when his injuries were sustained as the eventual impact into the monument looked quite tame - yet he appeared to be critically injured
