Admin costs added to traffic fines

Thursday 25 June 2009

The government's fine collection agency is adding €6 in administration costs to every traffic fine it processes from now on, news agency ANP reports.

The admin fee will generate an extra €65m on an annual basis, ANP said. Last year, the agency processed 11.6 million fines.

Even fines of just a few euros will be subject to the admin fee.

It seems to me the government's fine collection agency is the real criminal(s) here. It's not really about the need for administrative costs. It's all about the money.
