Somali pirates seize Dutch ship

Somali pirates on Thursday hijacked a Dutch ship with eight crew members in the Gulf of Aden, news agency AFP reported.


‘Pirates seized a small Dutch ship with eight crew. It was hijacked in the Gulf of Aden two hours ago (around 0730 GMT),’ the head of the the East African seafarers assistance programme Andrew Mwangura told AFP.
At least 20 shops are currently held by pirates in the region.
The Dutch shipping association KNVR told the NRC it could not confirm the reports.
No more information about the ship and crew is currently available.
