Rare butterfly makes a return

Monday 04 May 2009

A rare butterfly known as the mallow skipper (carcharodus alceae) has been found in the Netherlands for the first time in 56 years.

The brown butterfly was spotted in the region of Maastricht in the far south. Its good condition means it is likely it hatched in the locality, news agency ANP reports.
