Men break into zoo to swim with sharks

Friday 08 May 2009

Two men in full diving gear have been intercepted at Arnhem's Burgers' Zoo as they were about to go swimming with the sharks, reports Nos tv.

The men had broken into the zoo on the night of Wednesday to Thursday and were found sitting on the edge of the pool after an alarm went off.

The zoo's director Alex van Hoof says the men were stopped just in time. 'They were behaving like complete idiots. They endangered the animals. Sharks are sensitive to stress and could have died of a heart attack.'

The three blacktip sharks in the pool can also be dangerous to humans, he told Nos. 'Our own divers only clean the pool after taking a lot of precautionary measures,' he said.

The men, who were under the influence of drugs according to the Nos, were arrested and charged with breaking and entering the zoo.

Let's all blame it on Mushrooms...that seems to be a good excuse for crime...

"Sharks are sensitive to stress and could have died of a heart attack" ....whatever happened to the good old days of 'Jaws', 'Damien Hirst' and 'National Geographic' keeping us all rather afraid of these animals :-)

As long as the sharks are well fed, they would have been ok, as long as they didn't drown from being intoxicated by drugs..

On the other hand, should the sharks had been Great White, Hammer Head, Tiger, etc - these kinds would have been... well food as they are territorial animals, and unforutnately for the sharks, we don't taste all the splendid.

Wonder what kind of drugs will encourage you to swim with sharks, surely not shrooms??? as you are fairly incapable of controlling your motor skills.. definately would have problems rigging up diving gear.. musta been a stimulant.
