Icesave compensation costs €106m

The collapse of Icelandic internet bank Icesave cost the Dutch state €106m, 15% more than originally-estimated, tv station RTLZ said on Thursday.

Icesave had 128,000 savers in the Netherlands who had a total €1.66bn in the bank.
Most of them got their money back via the Dutch government’s guarantee scheme which covers the first €100,000. In turn, the government was able to claim the bulk of that from the Icelandic authorities.
