Girl snatched from near school
Wednesday 27 May 2009
An eight-year-old girl has been snatched from near a school in Ede, prompting police to issue a nationwide alert.
Katja Leendertz was seen being bundled into a grey Opel Zafira at 10.25 this morning, news agencies said. According to the Telegraaf, eyewitnesses said there were a man and a woman in the car.
It is the second time police have used the new amber alert which notifies a network of 10,000 people using email, text messages and social networking websites that a child has been taken.
In February, the network was alerted when a four-year-old boy disappeared in central Rotterdam. He turned up safe and well an hour later.
