E&Y suggests risk management certification
Monday 11 May 2009
Accounting group Ernst & Young would like to look into the possibility of developing an accountants' certificate for corporate risk management, the Financieele Dagblad reports on Monday.
Pieter Jongstra, head of the group's Dutch and Belgian operations, said in an interview he wanted to start up a debate with managers, supervisory organisations, the government and employers.
'I would like a debate about how far the security we offer can go,' Jongstra said. 'Perhaps it would be sensible to expand that to risk management.'
E&Y research among the managers of 300 companies earlier this year showed that 80% felt their risk management processes were not up to scratch.
