Empty prisons may house refugees

asylum seekers, prisonJunior justice minister Nebahat Albayrak has told MPs she will look into converting the eight prisons she plans to close down into suitable accommodation for asylum seekers.
Christian Democrat and Socialist MPs suggest the redundant units - which are being closed because there is a 2,000 cell surplus - could be used for refugees.
But Albayrak also pointed out the Netherlands does not have a shortage of capacity to house asylum seekers.

These prisons could be used for the homeless also and any other persons that are out of their homes, due to the horrible economic problems.
